Summary:
The second phase of MAKI-2 will allow us to continue improving the binding studies in the solid-liquid interface and to test the sensing of the two biomarkers in complex matrices (e.g. water, artificial urine and real urine samples) using the grafted sensors. We consider that the deep understanding of the interactions and processes taking place during the recognition and signaling event will be decisive for the further improvement of the receptors/aptamers and the sensing system (fluorophore). Therefore, in line with MAKI, the second phase MAKI-2 will combine fundamental research and applied research. We are convinced that putting both into action simultaneously is an added value that will lead to discoveries that a project based on the expertise of one single group could hardly achieve.
