Multifunctional Nanoplatforms For High Sensitive Pollution Control and Purification of Water

The idea is to develop a highly integrated and on demand switching water treatment platform that thanks to the use of a versatile and highly sensitive platform can be applied in various environmental pollution scenarios for both chemical and biological contamination sensing and purification. The main objectives are 1) ultrasensitive detection and monitoring of environmental pollutants in water and 2) design and construction of multi-functional water treatment systems, based on nanostructurated platforms, in order to construct fundamental technologies to keep the safety of water environment. Specifically, we will study the followings:

1) Ultrasensitive-sensing of various environmental pollutants in water by using hybrid nanostructurated sensors based on diamond electrodes, Lab-on-a-chip and functionalized nanoparticles.

2) Construction of multi-functional water treatment systems composed of nanostructured and/or visible light responsive photocatalysts and using the above sensors for quality control.
